Spring Tension Rod
A spring tension rod can be useful in many situations, but
especially in emergency situations. They are practical and easy to use and can be bought in different sizes, from
two all the way to six feet in length. Several emergency uses come to mind but first let me give you some of the
normal uses for spring tension rods.
These rods are often used inside closets. Not walk in closets
but regular closets inside your room. It may be necessary to use additional support for the rod where it contacts
the wall and possibly a hanger in the middle too, but this will depend on the amount of clothes weight you will be
putting on it. Usually they do not need extra help but it is better to be sure than find all your night gowns lying
on the floor one morning!
These rods are also used in the laundry room, if you do not
want to iron the clothes after they are removed from the dryer, the best and easiest thing to do with shirts and
pants is to hang them up while they are warm. The best place to do it, is right there in the laundry room, all you
have to do is stretch a rod from one wall to the other and proceed to hang your clothes on it. It will not take you
more than five minutes to set the whole thing up and you will have almost ironed clothes ready for
use.
The same thing goes when you have your kids and their friends
hanging out at the pool, you don’t want wet kids and their towels all over your house. The solution is simple, take
a rod and set it between two walls in the sun, ask the kids to dry themselves and leave their towels hanging on the
rod to dry. The problem is now solved, no wet kids inside and no wet towels either. In fact if they come back out
to the pool, it is possible that their towels may have dried some already and they can continue using
them.
Now let’s take a look at some possible emergency uses for these
rods. Your daughter is getting married and everyone has to get dressed in the church and later change at the
reception venue, but what are you going to do with all the dry cleaned clothes while they change. It is simple and
easy, one rod is hung in the room where the men will change, and all the tuxedos fit on it and they will remain
perfectly clean and pressed while waiting for the ceremony. Another one can do the same in the ladies
room.
Any time that you need to hang clothes or any other light
material and you do not have a place to do it on. You can use a spring tension rod anchored between opposite walls
in a room. I have even seen them stretched between two cars making a tent with a blanket over
them.
