A tension rod is usually used to hang a shower curtain or something light between two walls that are close together. They are not really designed for long distance operation. Three or four feet would be the maximum distance they could be stretched and still be sure they would do their job. Some of them have small bases to screw on the walls to help support the extended rod but most of them are set tight against both walls by their own pressure and tension.

A spring tension rod can be useful in many situations, but especially in emergency situations. They are practical and easy to use and can be bought in different sizes, from two all the way to six feet in length. Several emergency uses come to mind but first let me give you some of the normal uses for spring tension rods.

These do not need special instructions, all you do is stretch them and secure the tightening screw at the end of the retractable rod and they are all set. No need to measure anything or calculate anything just stretch it tight and lock it in place.

The tension shower rod is used obviously to set up a shower curtain in your bathroom. Since it is adjustable and does not need nails or screws to be fit, they are ideal for shower use. Many bathrooms have ceramics all the way to the roof and the ceramic will be damaged if you set screws or nails into it. These rods do their job perfectly without causing any damage to the walls.

Magnetic curtain rods are the solution when you want to use curtains on your metal doors. We don’t really have too many metal doors at home but if you have those aluminum frame glass door, these are what the magnetic rods are designed for. You can do the same thing if you live in a high rise apartment with aluminum windows you can use magnetic rods on them too. They are useful in many ways but these ways have to be metal related. There is no way to put them on a wood frame unless it has some large chunks of metal on it.
